The AIRE approved Old Farm Equestrian Centre is owned and run by Gerard Kavanagh, a qualified and registered Instructor with the British Horse Society. Just three miles from the village of Ashford on the R763 in County Wicklow, the Old Farm is a 50 acre farm nestled in the Wicklow Mountains with direct access into the state forestry for trekking and hacking.

Gerard established the Equestrian Centre in 1994. He teaches on a daily basis, his pupils range in age from six years old to a mere 67 years, from complete beginners to the more advanced Pony Club B Test and Open Riding club competition level.


As well as being a qualified British Horse Society registered instructor, Gerard is an experienced Dressage Ireland List 4 Judge and a qualified Show Judge for Ridden Hunters, In-Hand young horses,and mares & foals.
Gerard is also a qualified FEI Level 1 Coach and is certified to administer First Aid.
Gerard regularly teaches at both the Bray Pony Club and the Wicklow Pony Club rallies and summer pony camps. He prepares his pupils for Pony Club Tests in stable management, horse care and riding.
Gerard also runs dressage training clinics for the adult Riding Club members and his own summer pony camps at the Old Farm.
